Sodium Alginate HV (High Viscosity) Grade is a premium-quality hydrocolloid derived from brown seaweed, known for its excellent thickening, stabilizing, and film-forming properties. HV grade specifically provides very high viscosity even at low concentrations, making it ideal for applications that require superior texture, suspension, and binding performance. In the food industry, it enhances mouthfeel, stabilizes emulsions, and forms strong gels when combined with calcium ions. In industrial uses, it is widely preferred for textile printing, where its high viscosity ensures sharp print definition and smooth paste flow. It is also used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and technical formulations due to its biocompatibility and consistent performance. Sodium Alginate HV Grade is valued for being natural, safe, and highly efficient in a wide range of applications.

Sodium Alginate LV (Low Viscosity) Grade is a refined, food- and industrial-grade hydrocolloid derived from brown seaweed, specially processed to deliver low viscosity with excellent solubility. It forms smooth, stable solutions even at low concentrations, making it ideal for applications requiring easy dispersion and controlled thickening.Sodium alginate is a natural, tasteless, and odorless polysaccharide derived from brown seaweed. It is used as a food additive with gelling, thickening, and stabilizing properties across a variety of industries. Food and molecular gastronomySodium alginate is widely used in the food industry for its ability to create texture and form stable gels.
  • Thickening: It can be used to thicken sauces, dressings, and drinks by creating a viscous solution when dissolved in water.

Propylene glycol alginate (PGA or E405) is a versatile, food-grade additive derived from natural brown seaweed (kelp). It functions primarily as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and thickener, especially effective in acidic environments where other alginates are not stable. Key Properties and Function
  • Origin: Made by processing alginic acid extracted from brown algae, which is then reacted with propylene oxide.
  • Appearance: A white to yellowish, fibrous or granular powder that is nearly odorless and tasteless.
  • Solubility: Soluble in both cold and hot water, forming a viscous, colloidal solution.
  • Acid/pH Stability: Unlike some other gums, PGA is stable in acidic conditions (pH 3-5), making it a valuable additive for products with low pH, such as fruit juice drinks and acidic dairy products.
  • Amphiphilic Nature: It possesses both hydrophilic (water-loving) and lipophilic (fat-loving) groups in its molecular structure, which allows it to combine with both water and fats, making it an excellent emulsifier and stabilizer for oil-in-water emulsions.
Common UsesPGA is widely used across various industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Food and Beverages:
  • Thickener and Stabilizer: Used in yogurt, ice cream, salad dressings, sauces, and soups to improve texture, prevent separation of ingredients, and inhibit ice crystal formation.
  • Emulsifier: Helps to keep ingredients that do not typically mix well together, such as in salad dressings, blended spreads, and some dairy products.
  • Foam Stabilizer: One of its unique and common uses is as a highly effective foam stabilizer in beer and other malt beverages, creating a stable, long-lasting, and creamy head of foam.
  • Texture Enhancer: Improves the texture and elasticity of baked goods like bread and noodles.
Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics:
  • Used as a stabilizing, suspending, and gelling agent in various oral and topical formulations.
  • Included in some cosmetic products for its thickening and emulsifying properties.
